This eleven-volume faux-book set, also known as a 'Dactyliotheca', are named on the covers as 'Liberotti Impronte'. They were created by Giovanni Liberotti, a nineteenth-century Roman gem engraver who specialized in making these souvenirs.
Each book-shaped case opens to reveal carefully crafted impressions of European artworks, accompanied by handwritten lists detailing each item. From famous sculptures to timeless paintings and the portraits of famous men of history, each volume offers a glimpse into the artistic wonders of the past. Age: 19th Century, circa 1860s.
