This incredible necklace is typical of the love for opal jewellery in the 1920s. It is set with 37 precious opal beads which ascend in size from 6 to 12 mm. Each bead is interspersed with a row of two onyx and a rock crystal faceted bead. The necklace is completed by a hexagonal-shaped clasp, and a little silver safety chain, which was added at a later date.
