This silver set, consisting of a pendant brooch and earrings, are shaped like ivy leaves which are studded with tiny cabochon-cut turquoise.
The sturdy ivy plant, which grows on almost all sorts of soil and steadily climbs and envelops whichever object it grows next to, is a traditional symbol of fidelity and affectionate attachment, whether in friendship or in romantic love. Its evergreen nature was also seen as a metaphor for the timeless qualities of love and friendship. Therefore, ivy jewellery was often gifted as a token of friendship, but also gifted and worn to celebrate betrothals and weddings.
