This tiny 'lucky nail' brooch is made from 18k yellow gold, with a platinum front. The nail is set with an old-cut diamond of circa 0.02 carats.
Equestrian lucky jewels with either horseshoes, horseshoe nails, or a combination of these symbols were worn quite often in the late 19th and early 20th Century. These jewels were not only a beautiful fashion statement but also served as a lucky token.
If desired, this brooch could be converted into a pendant for a small fee.
