This short watch chain would have been used to attach a pocket watch to a waistcoat. The chain would prevent theft or loss, and was visible when worn, making it a little fashion accessory too.
Its design is made up of three chains of ascending sizes from different metals: 18k yellow gold, 18k rose gold, and platinum. It has a swivel clasp on one end and a large jump ring on the other, which means it can be worn as a bracelet on a small wrist, especially when you add a little extra clasp as I have done in the pictures.
