The design of this ring has both elements of the Art Deco era - most notably the stark colour contrast - and the later Retro era, with its scroll-like shoulders.
It is centered by a natural pink spinel, which is faceted in a modified rectangular cut. The table has received more facets than usual, which helps to bring out the colour and adds a lot of brilliance to the stone. It measures 11 x 9 mm and has an estimated weight of 3.90 carats.
The design is further set with fourteen single-cut diamonds. All gemstones are set in open settings, which allows light to pass through the stones, and which are decorated with so-called 'mille grain'. This effect is made with a small tool which creates the look of a fine strand of grains of sand (hence the French name, which translates to 'a thousand grains').
