This adorable novelty brooch depicts a tiny kitten. He is playing with a pearl, and his fur is made up of old mine-cut and rose-cut diamonds, which have been placed in open, silver settings. His tiny green eyes are likely made from tsavorite garnets.
The back carries the inscription: 'My Kitten - 28 Oct 1903. His tiny back paw has another date: 14-9-5.
Novelty brooches like these, displaying the interests or hobbies of their owner, were very popular at the turn of the 20th Century.
