The design of this ring, with a marquise-shaped front setting, is also known as a navette, which translates to 'little boat' in French. This shape optically elongates the finger, thereby looking gorgeous on any hand. Navette rings were very popular during the last years of the 19th Century, the period we now call the Victorian era.
This particular example is made from 18k yellow gold and platinum. Its front is set with a cabochon-cut, marquise-shaped turquoise, which is encircled by two rows of rose-cut diamonds. Its design is completed by two rose-cut diamond-encrusted forked elements on each shoulder.
