This unusual 14k yellow gold ring is centered by an oval, greyish-white pearl, which has not been tested but is likely of cultured origin. This pearl is set in an unusual silver basket-like setting, of which the rim is set with tiny rose-cut diamonds.
The hallmarks inside the shank tell us that it was made in Hungary, somewhere before 1937. Its design reminds me of Russian Romanov easter eggs, which would often also have delicate silver 'baskets' around them.
