This 18kt yellow gold safety pin is topped with a scarab, made from 18k green gold and silver, which is studded with a tiny cabochon-cut ruby and three rose-cut diamonds.
After the discovery of the tomb of King Tutankhamun by Howard Carter in 1922, ancient Egyptian culture, which already was popular in the 19th Century, became an absolute craze, highly influencing arts, fashion, and jewellery designs, as can be seen in this pin.
This safety pin was originally worn as a brooch, high up the neck of a shirt. Today, it will also look amazing pinned on a jacket or worn as a chain extender / charm holder.
