These 14k yellow gold earrings have a square crimpled-over setting, each set with a triangular-shaped rose-cut diamond. Although rose-cut diamonds are notoriously difficult to calculate, I estimate them to conservatively weigh 0.55 and 0.47 carats.
The earrings are fitted with the original hook-closings, which are threaded through the ear from the back through the front. The design of these earrings is also referred to as 'dormeuse' or sleeper earrings, because they were meant to be comfortable to wear and were not necessary to remove when going to sleep, unlike heavier drop earrings from the same period! The little roundels at the top of each hook give them a little extra grip, making them easier to put on and off.
