This pair of early 20th Century hunting dogs are made of bronze. They are unsigned and fashioned in the manner of Henri Alfred Jacquemart (1824 - 1896).
Jacquemart was a famed French 'animalier' -or artist of animal sculptures- who created many sculptures of animals, but was also famed for the creating of several monuments. His animal sculptures stood out due to the almost abstract expressions that were used in the animal's features, as opposed to the fine, classical renderings that were popular in the earlier 19th Century. This feature can be seen in these sculptures too, especially in the faces of each dog.
Dimensions: Each 23 x 20 x 9 cm / 9 x 7.90 x 3.50 inches.
Condition: in good antique condition. The surfaces have developed patina, adding to their character.
