The design of this striking ring is very typical of the 1930s, when platinum jewels were a huge trend. These jewels often have a stark colour contrast, created by combining the pale platinum with brightly coloured gemstones, such as the sapphires that were used in this ring.
The cushion-shaped front is centered by a flower with tapered petals, made up of synthetic sapphires. The flower is encircled by several single-cut diamonds of various sizes. The back of the setting has been open-worked with an intricate pattern, allowing light to pass through the gemstones.
