This late 19th Century bar brooch is shaped like an ellipse, studded with numerous tiny rose-cut diamonds in silver settings. Traditionally, this was done because silver brings out the brilliance and colour of the diamonds.
The back and clasp are made from 14k yellow gold, and both the sides of the brooch and the settings are open, allowing light to pass through the stones. The brooch opens and closes with a C-clasp, typical for its era.
